Subject to Change

We are all subject to change. Change is a necessary part of life. How we deal with change says a lot about an individual. Personally, I've gone through a lot of change in the past year: we just celebrated the 1 year anniversary of my Mom's passing. We switched to completely remote work from home thanks to the pandemic. After 30 years of service, we saw the close of the business my husband and I worked for and found ourselves unemployed. Our kids needed to transition to remote learning and all that entailed. We engaged new jobs with new responsibilities, new timelines, new rules, new everything. And the list goes on. One year, 12 months, 365 days, 8760 hours (give or take), however you want to measure it, can contain an immeasurable amount of change. Some good. Some not so good. Some life changing. Some you'd rather forget. Any of these changes warranted an emotional breakdown or a desire to crawl under the covers and let the world pass by. However, through it all I chose to view it through the lens of the creator and focus on the good, the possibilities of what could be. That change of focus has made all the difference. Where there could be bitterness and heartache, I choose to see gracious mercy and moments of thanksgiving. I found peace amidst chaos.

These challenges are not uncommon for many in the world today. The pandemic has taken a lot, changed a lot. How we choose to deal with the change can have a profound affect on our life, our inmost being, and how we interact with others. We're all going through change. If you're spending a lot of time trying to figure out why the change happened or brooding over how the change happened, perhaps you're being asked to let it go. Let it go and give it to someone who is much more capable of handling it. Peace is often found when we let go and focus on the true light of the world. Are you ready to let go? (Matt 11:28-30)
